Tap Handles 101: Proper Attachment (aka don’t blame the handle)

You just received your really, really, really ridiculously good looking and American-made tap handles and you can’t wait to share them with the world. You throw them on your draft tower only to discover *gasp* that they’re facing sideways after being screwed on! Great scot! What to do?!  Don’t worry, we’ve all had that moment of panic.

When you thread your tap handle onto your draft faucet, the handle may not line-up exactly how you want it. The solution is quite easy through the help of a small, but important part of the draft faucet assembly called the collar.

Pop that collar!

 Here’s what you do:

  1. Admire your awesome custom tap handle and decide which way it should face.

  2. Screw the tap handle down to gently meet the collar. Do not tighten.

  3. Unscrew the tap handle just enough so that it faces the desired direction.

  4. While holding the tap handle in place, twist the collar up to meet the handle until snug. Don’t get the wrench, hand tight is just fine.

  5. Voila, you're done! No tools needed.
